The Remix Concert / The Rivoli, Toronto / 06/06/09

The Canadian Music Centre and IAMIC hosted an exciting evening of new remixes produced by local electronic artists Solvent, minisystem, Bartek Kawula, DJ Cozmic Cat, and DJ Rock Steady Drew last night. These five musicians represent a diverse range of contemporary genres of electronic dance music, from popular club sounds to electro to experimental techno. Sixteen countries from around the globe submitted music for remixing and last night these talented electronic artists delivered their superb remixes. Craig Dominic started off the night doing a Icelandic mash-up and got the crowd started. Rock Steady Drew and Cozmic Cat made all the international visitors dance and sweat-up a storm to their skilled dj club sets. Bartek Kawula delivered a quality minimal techno set with his superb drifting layered dubby rhythms. I wish someone would sign this boy. Noise Factory artist, minisystem performed his classic melodic gems while also tearing it up with some harder grooving techno. Solvent, the headliner, played a synthy party electro set and passionately sang into his vocoder. Last but not least the night wouldn't have been complete without Turbographix's amazing visuals, which helped carry the night through to becoming a great success. I couldn't stop humming and singing Solvent's famous track My Radio all the way home. This was truly a spectacular evening.
